    EK 1813 ``Centenar´´

    Hello!

What do you think about? Is this EK 1813``Centenar- model´´original manufactured in 1920´s ?

    More likely bicentenar fake.
Sometimes in the half of 19th century (I don´t know the date precisely), the original reverse side of EK1813 started to be considered as obverse side and vice versa. So centenar EK1 pieces should be with FW, oaks and crown on the obverse. IMO

That was for the 2nd class only and did not affect the 1st classes at all, from what I know.

A very nicely made fake made from an authentic 1914 EK1 by a jeweler. Good for display in my opinion.

One month ago, can´t remember if it was Winkler of Weitze, there was offered EK1 1813, proclaimed to be from 1850+ era. It had correct serif core, same as my EK2 1813. FW and oaks were on obverse. Of course, it could be Frankenstein.

That one was a converted 2. Class, and sold as such. It came from a Thies auction originally. Weitze had it as I recall.

Sometimes I wonder.... We have sent a man/men to moon, built a nuclear bomb, calcluated the age of egyptian mummies and 3.000.000 years old dinosaur bones and sent a robot with 3mb pixel digital camera to mars.

Why is it so difficult to make a reasonable priced gadget which would calculate the age of basic metals even with accuracy of 20-30 years...?

there are several spectral analysis röntgen hand held options usable in order to distinguish authentic , old and modern productions .

if you are informed with the chemical composition of authentic silver and metal items .( as well as production methods.)

but as you said ,,,to expensive to own such a gadget .

a small light in this ,,,in 10 years these hand hold gadget will be on the marked as second hand gadgets ,,,,,,,,,,,,( they are already)

so interest in truth rather then goeroe, book and dealer revelations will be more in the picture as base fore the collectors investment.

and a lot of what is throe these day's will be laughable misinformation in the future for sure .....

                  regards kay

Interesting idea, but I think the main problem is that metals are all very old. The silver in an Iron Cross frame was formed perhaps millions of years ago (that's a guess, but you get it). I don't think technology to date metals is even theoretically possible, and if it were, what use could it be to us?
